Generative Montage:

Experiment into Animation, Emotion and Narration

In my master thesis I tried to answer this question: Is it possible to convey emotions and narration through a generative combination of animation?

Inspired by the infamous Kuleshow Effect I developed different sets of rules for both the design of each frame and the composition of different animated clips through common editing techniques.

Each snippet is made by combining 3D environments built and rendered in Cinema 4D and traditional 2D animation drawn in TV Paint. The generation of each short film is done in the Unreal Engine, where 10 random clips are assembled through certain rules.
